A great deal of time and effort has gone into the revision of the Association Garment test method. Additional effort is being committed to work on the IEC TC101 – Electrostatics committee, particularly in the area of garments and tape and reel packaging materials for static control. A study on the impact of electrical fields on ESD risk is also in progress.
Affinity has a laboratory facility for testing materials used in ESD control programs. For qualification purposes, materials must be tested at low and moderate humidity levels. Some testing includes the interaction of a person thus requiring a walk-in test chamber. The Affinity lab includes a walk-in chamber for testing of flooring and footwear in combination with a person at humidity conditions ranging from less than 10% to greater than 70% depending on customer requirements.
